David Meyer 65 of Tipton died Wednesday, November 7th 2018 at his home surrounded by family and friends.
David Michael Meyer was born October 1st 1953 in Decorah to Raymond and Josephine (McDonnell) Meyer. He graduated from South Winneshiek High School in 1971 and attended the University of Iowa in Iowa City.
David was QA inspector at Loparex in Iowa City for over 30 years. "Dangerous Dave" was the sound engineer for the Mother Blues Band in his early years. His love of music continued as he attended many music shows and festivals.
David was a volunteer for Project Aware where he spent a week every year cleaning Iowa waterways. His love of water extended to fly fishing. Every summer David made a trip to his favorite fishing spots in Montana. He was also called 'Outfitter Dave" for helping many friends learn the joy of canoeing and kayaking. He was always there when you fell out of your boat to help you upright. He was infamous for his "Last Saturday in September" parties, which always included fireworks, great music and fun.
David is survived by close friend Becky Couch of Iowa City, two brothers Charles (Kathleen) Meyer of Calmar and Kevin (Joyce) Meyer of Spillville, sister-in-law Rosemary Meyer of Cedar Rapids, and many nephews and nieces.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Raymond and Josephine Meyer, brother Robert Meyer, three nephews, Joel Meyer, Alan Meyer and Terry Meyer.
A gathering of friends and family will begin at 11 a.m. Saturday, November 17, 2018 at his residence.
