James ‘Jim’ Cary, 92, of Tipton, entered eternity early Sunday, December 15, 2019 while under the care of Cedar Manor Nursing Home. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, December 17, 2019 from 4:00 to 6:00 pm with a Masonic Service held at 6:00 pm at Fry Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, December 18, 2019 at 10:30 A.M. at Fry’s. Cremation will follow and inurnment will be private in Tipton Masonic Cemetery. Jim, son of James and Blanche Cary, was born on April 27, 1927 in Cedar County, Iowa. Jim attended Tipton High School and was a member of the graduating class of 1945. Jim served his country in the United States Army from 1952 to 1957. On September 21, 1957 Jim was united in marriage to Mardell Edens in Davenport, Iowa. He served as Past President of the Cedar Country Fair Board and held membership for 35 years. He enjoyed raising and showing purebred Shropshire Sheep and farming. Jim was also a member of the Tipton Masonic Lodge where he served as the Worshipful Master.
Jim is survived by his wife of 62 years, Mardell (Marty) Cary, son Steve Cary of Dubuque, Iowa and his daughter, Cindy Cary of Solon, Iowa, and his grandson, Max Cary. Jim has been preceded in death by his parents and his brother, George.
