Julia Ann Martin, 68, of Tipton, entered eternity on Thanksgiving Day, November 28, 2019, while under the care of the Bird House Hospice House in Iowa City. Visitation will be held on Saturday, December 7, 2019 from 9:00 – 11:00 AM with memorial services beginning at 11:00 AM in the Trinity Lutheran Church, Tipton, with lunch to follow. Pastor Beth Wartick officiating. Burial will follow at a later date. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com. A memorial fund has been established in her name with the proceeds donated to her family.
Julia, daughter of Jurgen Julius Diers and Erna Alice Bast Diers, was born on May 5, 1951 in Sumner, Iowa. Julia graduated from the Wapsi Valley High School and became a Licensed Practical Nurse. Julia was united in marriage to Henry Edward Martin on January 18, 1975 in Bassett, Nebraska. Julia worked for the Wilton Nursing Home and later as a Gastroenterologist. She was a member of the Trinity Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tipton where she served in numerous church activities. She loved to sing and shared her voice with the Sweet Adeline’s. In her spare time Julia loved animals and spending time with her family.
Julia is survived by her husband, Henry E. Martin of Tipton, her parents, Julius and Erna Diers of Sumner, Iowa; her children, John Martin of Ames, Iowa and Paul (Sara) Martin of Wilton, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her father and mother in law, Henry Martin, Sr. and Reba Martin; her sister in law, Doreen Diers, and her grandparents on both side, Fred and Nanny (Peterson) Diers and Otto and Clara (Panser) Bast.
