Martin ‘Marty’ Patrick Fay, 73, of Tipton, died peacefully in his home on Friday, June 8, 2018. A memorial mass will celebrate his life on Tuesday, June 19, at 5:00 pm in St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Tipton with the Rev. Richard Okumo officiating. A time of visiting will be from 4:00 to 5:00 pm before the service. Burial will follow in St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery, Tipton. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com.
Marty was born on September 15, 1944 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was the son of Clarence and Honora Omara Fay. Marty graduated from Tipton High School in 1962 and then attended Iowa State University. Marty worked for years in building large grain bins and he was a farmer for most of his life. Marty was highly intelligent and could converse on any topic at any level. His many hobbies over the years included collecting MG’s and making beautiful rock jewelry. He was a long time member of the Tipton Lions Club and a lifelong member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church.
Marty is survived by his brother, Bill and his wife, Jan Fay of Tipton, his nephew Scott Fay and his wife, Darla of New Liberty, Iowa; his niece, Sherry and her husband, Tom Bryant of Tipton, Iowa; great nieces and nephews Bobby and Brittany Bryant and Michael and Lauren Fay; great-great nieces and nephews Sophie Bryant and Ren Jennings. A memorial fund has been established in his memory and the proceeds will be donated to the Tipton Lions Club.
