Raymond ‘Ray’, son of Carl and Marguerite Koster Steinberg, was born on February 21, 1941 in Manson, Iowa. Ray graduated from Manson High School and Iowa Central College where he played football. Ray was united in marriage to Carol Lee Malone on February 21, 1964 in Rockwell City, Iowa. Together they made their home with their children in Manson, IA. He started his career as a welder and earned his way to become the Director of Operations for Centralab in Fort Dodge, IA. Ray and Carol later relocated to Raleigh, NC where he held the same position at Electroswitch until retirement in 2008. Ray was an active member of the Manson community as past announcer and chain crew for football, score keeper for basketball and baseball, and other sports activities. He served as a superintendent of Sunday school, was a member and a past President of Manson Meridian Singers, Manson School Board, City Council, and Chairman of the Manson Community Schools Rebuilding Committee after the 1979 tornado. Ray and Carol lived in Manson, Iowa, Huntingdon, Tennessee, Raleigh, North Carolina, and Tipton. Ray loved his family and friends made in each community where he lived. Ray was an avid football fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and in his home town of Manson and Tipton. His love of football started young and ran deep in each of the communities where he lived, and any activities his grandkids were involved in.
