Steven Ray Campbell

Steven Ray Campbell, who was soon to celebrate his 59th birthday on March 9th, passed away in the comfort of his own home on Wednesday, March 6th, 2019 from natural causes.

Steve, as he was known by, was born on March 9, 1960 in Huntington, Indiana and was the son of Paul Dean and Ruth Ann (Sell) Campbell. When Steve lived in Huntington he attended Huntington Community School until the family moved to Tipton, where he graduated from Tipton High School in 1979. Steve worked at Bud’s Super Value, Jamison Corporation and moved to Des Moines and managed a convenience store for several years before return back to Tipton. Steve enjoyed getting out with his neighbors and helping whenever he could. He would not let his disability hold him back and was proud to be independent as it was common to see Steve motoring anywhere in his hoveround chair. A special thank you goes out to Steve’s neighbors, friends and members of the United Methodist Church of Tipton.  Steve had the good fortune to live in a neighborhood that people kept a watchful out for him.  Being disabled made certain tasks difficult but there wasn’t a shortage of people stepping in to help when the snow needed to be shoveled or mowing of his yard or providing him with food from the church.

Steve is survived by his father, Paul Campbell, special friend Shirley Ehlers of Tipton, Iowa; sister, Jody (Rusty) Schroeder of Tipton, Iowa; brothers, David (Jill) Campbell of Fort Wayne, Indiana, Tim Campbell (Keith Earle) of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, Gary (Cathie) Campbell of Wellman, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews.

He is preceded in death by his mother, grandparents Woodrow and Mary Sell, Ora and June Campbell.
