Thomas "Tom" was born February 22, 1945 to Charles and Eva (Rogers) Hajek in Aurora, Illinois. When Tom was 6-years-old his family moved to Iowa. He went to school in Iowa City and Tipton, Iowa. Tom was proud to join the US Army after he finished school. On July 10, 1971, he married Phyllis Raap in Davenport, Iowa. Together, Tom and Phyllis had one son, Jared. Tom was a Millwright and a Machine Operator. He was very talented and skilled with building and repairing engines; he could figure out what was wrong with an engine just by listening to it run. His passion was building guns; he could take scraps and build a gun out of nothing.
Tom is survived by his wife, Phyllis of Tipton, Iowa; son, Jared Hajek of Tipton, Iowa; and granddaughter, Karly Hajek of Tipton, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Lavern and Charlene; and brother, Charles.
