Virginia Lenore Laing

Virginia Lenore Laing, 83, of Tipton, Iowa, went to meet her Savior on Sunday, March 2, 2014 at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City, Iowa, surrounded by her loving family. Visitation services for Virginia will be Thursday, March 6, 2014 from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. at the Fry Funeral Home in Tipton, Iowa. Funeral services, at Fry Funeral Home, will be held on Friday, March 7, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. Virginia will be laid to rest at Red Oak Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at Tipton Calvary Foursquare Church. Memorials may be donated in Virginia's honor to Tipton Calvary Foursquare Church and Prairie Hills Assisted Living. Virginia was born October 29, 1930, the daughter of Virgil and Francis Cole in Lisbon, Iowa. Virginia attended Lisbon High School. On March 17, 1948, Virginia married the love of her life, Mearl Laing in Lisbon, Iowa. She was a member of Tipton Calvary Foursquare Church and Women's Aglow. Her faith was center of her life and it showed as she always put others before herself. She had a soft spot in her heart for church music and hymns. Virginia was a caregiver, wife and mother. Her kind, selfless and gentle nature touched all the people around her.

Virginia is loved and survived by her daughters, Bonnie (Ron) Stutzel of Tipton, Iowa and Linda (Dick) Brennan of Tipton, Iowa; son, Jeffrey (Tari) Laing of Tipton, Iowa; sisters, Mary Laing of Lisbon, Iowa, Patty Welty-Baugh of Tipton, Iowa, Donna Davis of Las Vegas, Nevada and Cynthia Bergen of Vinton, Iowa; brother, Harry Cole of Mt. Vernon, Iowa; 11 grandchildren; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Mearl; parents, Francis and Virgil; and two nephews.
