Walter “Wally” Theodore Cawiezell, 82, passed away on Wednesday night, September 25, 2019 at the University of Iowa Hospital. A time of visitation will be held Sunday afternoon, September 29, 2-5 PM at Fry Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow the next day September 30, 10:30 AM also at Fry Funeral Home. Wally was born on October 30, 1936 to Ernie and Florence (Stock) Cawiezell in Davenport, Iowa. Wally attended Tipton High School and later married Kay Aggson on August 16, 1958 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Wally spent many years farming, working at Link-Belt in Cedar Rapids, and for 17 years he and Kay owned and operated the Tipton Maid-Rite. After Kay’s death in 2007, Wally was married to Barbara Werling on September 14, 2008. He had a number of hobbies including fishing, golf, bowling, softball, and watching the Yankees and Cubs.
Wally is survived by his mother-in-law Clara Eves; wife Barbara Cawiezell; sons Jeffrey (Kitty) Cawiezell, Scott (Angel) Cawiezell, Kirk Cawiezell, Brad (Sue) Cawiezell and Robin (Jeanette) Werling; daughters Shelly (Darrin) Lett and Lauri Lehn; sister Ruby (Larry) Ivins; brother Kenneth (Pat) Cawiezell; 15 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; and 9 step-great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his parents, first wife Kay, and two sisters Shirley and Karen.
