Alberta Helen Wagaman, age 93, of Tipton, Iowa, passed away at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids on November 5, 2025. She was born February 11, 1932, at home in rural Moscow, Iowa, to Fritz and Minnie (Freese) Kuehl. Alberta attended country school through eighth grade, graduated from Wilton High School, and earned her teaching degree from Iowa State Teachers College (now UNI) in 1950. She taught in Cedar and Muscatine County schools.
On February 17, 1952, Alberta married Richard L. Wagaman at the Wilton Methodist Church. Together they built a life rooted in faith, family, and farming. Alberta devoted herself to the family’s produce business for nearly 30 years. She was among the first vendors at both the Davenport Farmers Market, and the Iowa City Rec Center, where her homemade goods became local favorites.
Alberta was a longtime member of First United Methodist Church in Tipton. Her faith was central—she participated in Bible studies, served in many roles, and wore out more than one Bible through daily devotion. She shared scripture and spiritual encouragement with her family, and her quiet acts of service reflected the depth of her belief.
She is survived by her son, Rocky (Sara) Wagaman of Moscow; daughter-in-law, Brenda Wagaman of Moscow; grandchildren Regan, Ross, Riley, Matthew, Corey, Kyle, Marcus, Madison, Cael, Colton, Carly, and Callun; great-grandchildren Cameron, Griffin, Natalie, Charlotte, Leona, Nora, Auggie, Gus, Coryn, Wrenly, Abbott, Max, Ila, Brody, Ada, and Bowen.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard; her parents; sons, Cam and Sharm; and grandson, Andrew.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, November 11, from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton. A funeral service will take place Wednesday, November 12, at 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Tipton, followed by burial at Tipton Masonic Cemetery.
