Alberta Lucille Werling

April 21, 1921 — February 24, 2013

Funeral services for Alberta Lucille Werling, 91, of Mechanicsville, formerly of Tipton who died Saturday, February 23, 2013 will be held March 2, 2013 at 11:00am at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton with Pastor Jonathon Smith officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 - 11:00 am prior to the service at Fry Funeral Home. Burial will follow in the LeClaire Cemetery, LeCaire, Iowa. A memorial has been established in her memory. Alberta was born April 21, 1921, the daughter of Jack W. and Roxie Ellen Wilson Sturdy. She was a 1939 graduate of Tipton High School. She was united in marriage to William Wilson Moffit, Jr. and later to Warren Werling. Alberta was a homemaker, attended Tipton Bible Church and was a member of the Pythian Sisters (past Supreme Chief of the State of Iowa), Lions, VFW Auxiliary and Moose Lodge. She is survived by her children, Jorjean J. Banez of Cedar MN, Jeraldine G. Kurth of Mechanicsville, Julia K. (Dennis) Williams of Shellsburg; 11 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren; and brother Keith Richard Sturdy of Tipton. She was preceded in death by her parents, husbands, William and Warren; daughters, Judy Kuehl and Joyce Davis; son William Moffit, III; grandson, Norman Davis, Jr; great-grandson, Terry Armstrong; and brothers, William Franklin Sturdy and Jack Herbert Sturdy.
