Albino Barela, 67, of Tipton, Iowa and formerly of Belen, NM entered the kingdom of heaven on Saturday, August 13, 2016 with his oldest son by his side. Visitation for close family and friends will be held Wednesday, August 17 from 4:00-6:00 pm, Fry Funeral Home, Tipton, Iowa. Funeral mass will be held Thursday, August 18 at 10:00 am, St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tipton, with a time of visitation beginning at 9:00 am. Interment will be held at Shawver Cemetery, Cedar Bluff with full military honors. Albino attended Belen High School. He was later drafted in the United States Army and served proudly during the Vietnam War. After his return to New Mexico he worked for the Kerr McGee Mines in Grants, New Mexico, he was a Union Cement Finisher by trade. After his move to Iowa, he worked for Supreme Clean that maintained the rest areas along Interstate 80 in Iowa. Albino was preceded in death by his parents, Fidel and Tomasita Lovato-Barela; brother and sisters, Matias Barela, Rosie Lueras, Carmen Mathes; brother and sister-in-laws, Inez Lueras, Earl Mathes, Sotero Otero and Priscilla Barela. Surviving Al are his five children, Fidel Barela of Tipton, Iowa, Ronnie, Darlene Barela of Los Lunas, Katharina Koach and Kendall Foster, both of Florida; 10 grandchildren; sisters, Miquela (Herman) Baca, Elsie Otero of Los Lunas, Deacon Felix (Albinita) Barela of Belen, Edwin (Irene) Barela and Telesfor Barela of Albuquerque and numerous nieces and nephews, cousins and special friends, the Stumbo family from Tipton, Iowa that treated him like family.
