Alice Leona Dettman, daughter of William Carl and Linnie Wilhelmina Brinkman Dettman, was born on May 23, 1921 in Tipton, Iowa. Alice graduated from Tipton High School in 1939. On November 18, 1942 Alice was united in marriage to Eugene Robert Moore in Rolla, Missouri. Alice and Robert made their home in Tipton where they were very active in the community, city government and their church. Alice was an active volunteer for many organizations, including the Tipton Veterans of Foreign War Axillary and the Tipton Moose Lodge. Robert and Alice were also instrumental in the formation of the current First United Church of Christ which was a combining of two separate congregations in to one body of believers. Alice and Robert moved to Columbia, Tennessee and after her husband died, she moved to Oskaloosa, Iowa. Alice died on Saturday, March 14 at 9:25 pm in the Northern Mahaska Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Oskaloosa. Alice is survived by her daughter, Paula Jo (Mrs. Mark) Bender of Duluth, Georgia; sons, Eugene R. (Scottie) Moore of Oskaloosa, Iowa, Gregory A. (Sherrie) Moore of Murfreesboro, Tennessee, Gary L. Moore of Oskaloosa, Iowa; sisters, Lillian Schroeder of Tipton, Iowa and Shirley Hoffner of Clarence, Iowa. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband on June 9, 1984, sisters, Ruth Unruh and Betty Fedderson, brothers William Jim" Dettman Earl Dettman and Robert Dettman. A memorial fund to Epidermolysis Bullosa Medical Research Foundation (EBMFR) has been selected by her family. Alice will be laid to rest by her husband in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery following the funeral service."
