Funeral services for Amelia "Amy" Margaret Kopsa, 90, of Tipton who died Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Cedar Manor Nursing Home, will be held Friday, February 17, 2012 at 11:00 am at the First United Church of Christ, Tipton, casket will be open one hour prior to service. Pastor David Lorenzen will be officiating. Visitation will be held on Thursday, February 16, 2012 from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Burial will be in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery, Tipton. A memorial has been established for the Tipton Public Library and First United Church of Christ in her memory. Amy was born October 26, 1921, the daughter of Rev. Irwin F. and Zeta Vernon Hayenga, in Minto, North Dakota. She was a 1940 graduate of Shellsberg High School and a 1945 graduate of Grant Hospital School of Nursing. On September 24, 1945, Amy was united in marriage to Walter John Kopsa in George, Iowa. She was a founding member and president of Tipton Meals on Wheels, served on the Certified Review Committee of Cedar County Care Facility, member of Searchlight, Athenaeum, Tipton Women's Club, United Church of Christ's Women's Fellowship, and Child Conservation League, and founding member of Share. Amy enjoyed house boating, winters in Texas, traveling, reading, and playing Bridge. She was a devoted RN, housewife and mother. Amy is loved and survived by her husband, Dr. Walter John Kopsa of Tipton, Iowa; daughters, Zeta Ann (Kent) Creed of Highland Ranch, Colorado, Alicia Mary Kopsa and husband, William Carley of Littleton, Colorado; sons, Walter John (Jane) Kopsa, Jr. of Iowa City, Iowa, Joseph Erwin Kopsa of Baton Rouge, Louisiana; and grandchildren, David Kopsa, and Amelia, Elloise, Mitchell and Angela Carley. She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Ralph and wife, Betty; sister, Winona; daughter-in-law, Carol Kopsa; and foreign exchange student, Hans Heinrichs.
