Barbara Jean Post, a beloved wife, mother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully on November 12, 2024, in Tipton, Iowa. Born on April 27, 1958, in Washington, Iowa, Barbara led a life filled with love, laughter, and dedication to her family.
Barbara was born to David Galloway and Carol McIntyre. She married Randall Post on July 27, 1995, at their family farm in Tipton, IA. The couple had eight children: Angela (Ed) Puckett of Wilton, Sheena (Steve) Krueger of Letts, Brandy (Craig) Galloway of Montross, VA, Sunshine (Jeremy) Barrick of Fruitland, Cherrish Puckett of Hills, Kariel Post of Des Moines, Garrett Post of Lost Nation, and Nikita (Joe) Thompson of Cedar Rapids.
Barbara was a joyful soul who loved to make people laugh and have fun. She was true to her word, her work, her family, and her friends. A hippie at heart, she sang to her own song and loved everyone fiercely.
Barb loved a good prank! She would sneak up on friends and family and scare them half to death at home, in the aisles of Theisen’s, or wherever she found an unsuspecting opportunity. She loved dressing up, old movies, Halloween, Christmas, camping, mushroom hunting, baking (but not cooking), Pepsi, sunbathing, swimming, and tending to her yard and home. She loved spoiling her grandkids.
Barbara worked as a machine operator at CDS for 10 years. For 24 years, she worked diligently as a bookkeeper for Theisen's, where her precision and dedication left a lasting impact on all who had the pleasure of working with her.
She loved gardening and roses, but bleeding hearts were her favorite flower. Over the years, she had a collection of pets, including a fawn, peacock, lion (named Andy), parrot, turkeys, chickens, rabbits, dogs, and cats. Her favorite dogs were Brody, Bella, and Baby. Two weeks before Barb passed, she adopted a kitten named Spooky. One might say Spooky adopted Barb, affectionately staying by her side as Barb slipped away from this life and entered into eternal rest.
She was so loving, always asking, "Has anybody told you they love you today?" If they said no, she would say, "Well, I love you," just in case they needed to hear it. Her parting words, "Goodnight, I love you, sweet dreams," will be passed down from one generation to the next. She loved her husband, children, and grandchildren. She was the best.
She is survived by her loving spouse, Randall Post, her children, Angela, Sheena, Brandy, Sunshine, Cherrish, Kariel, Garrett, and Nikita, and her precious 25 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren. Barbara was also a cherished sister to Twila Galloway and Lori Erickson. Her memory will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her.
A Celebration of Life Memorial Service will take place at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton, IA, at 11:00 AM, November 16, 2024, where friends and family will come together to joyfully honor Barbara Jean Post’s remarkable life. A reception will follow at The Red Pin on November 16, 2024, at 12:00 PM, as a time for friends and family to gather and share cherished stories, laughter and fond memories of Barb.
In accordance with Barbara's wishes, her remains will be cremated, symbolizing her eternal presence in the hearts of those who loved her dearly. She will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by all who had the privilege of knowing her. May she rest in eternal peace.
Barbara was preceded in death by her fathers, David Galloway and Charles McIntyre; mother, Carol McIntyre; sisters, Anita Bohlken and Janet Valencia; brother, David Galloway; stepbrothers, Charlie McIntyre and Michael McIntyre; and great-granddaughter, Amelia.
