Bernice Kathryn Barkhurst Pilcher, was born on April 20, 1916 in Sugar Creek Township, Cedar County, Iowa to Otis A. and Martha May Rochholz Barkhurst. She was a 1935 graduate of the Tipton High School. In 1963 Bernice was united in marriage to Luther L. Pilcher in Carson City, Nevada. During her lifetime Bernice was a member of the Kenwood Park Methodist Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa; the Order of the Eastern Star; Shriner's Auxilary and the United Methodist Women. Surviving is her brother, Delmer and wife, Dorothy,Barkhurst of Tipton, Iowa, Step Daughters, Kathy Lee Dice of Borrego Springs, California; Debra Dunn of Santa Cruz, California; niece, Jennifer Rossum of Rapid City, South Dakota; and many cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three brothers; Wilbur Barkhurst, Leonard Barkhurst and Oscar Barkhurst, her only sister, Fern Williams. A general memorial fund has been established in her memory. Following the memorial service on Friday there will be a burial of her cremated remains in the Glasgo Cemetery in Glasgo, Kansas.
