Betty Jane Davis, 91, of Tipton, died Friday, August 29, 2014 in the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 3, 2014, 10:30 AM, Fry Funeral Home, Tipton, Pastor Paul Fredericksen, officiating and Lyle Beaver providing music. Burial will follow in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery. Visitation for Betty will take place on Tuesday, September 2 from 4 - 7 PM at Fry's. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com. Betty Jane Irving, daughter of William and Florence Andre Irving, was born on August 4, 1923 in Center Township, Tipton, Iowa. She graduated from the Tipton High School with the Class of 1941. Betty was united in marriage to Harold Bernard Davis, Sr. in 1942 in Towson, Maryland. Together they had two children; Harold "Red" and Jackie. Her husband died on September 17, 1966. Betty was a homemaker, babysitter and was one of the first to be employed at Cedar Manor when it opened its doors. She worked in the food service department in Cedar Manor and eventually became a nurse's aide. She remained there for over 35 years as an employee and after her retirement she continued to work as a volunteer helping others and playing bingo with the other residents. Betty was a member of the Methodist faith. Betty is survived by her two children; Harold "Red" Davis and his wife, Ferris, of Tipton, Iowa and her daughter, Jackie Dill and her husband, Bill, of Grinnell, Iowa; 5 grandchildren, Bernadette Fulmer, Dawn Davis, Melissa Davis (Scott Barber), Brent (Tiffany) Dill, and Jon (Tina) Dill, 7 Great Grandchildren, Brandon, Justin, Caden, Brady, Bentley Grace, Brody & Jaxson; her sister, Dorothy Nost of Lisbon, Iowa. Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, 3 sisters, Louise Sievers, Lucille Bedbury and Bonnie Glick; 6 brothers, Robert Irving, Everette Irving, Leo Irving, Delvie Irving, Donald Irving and Marvin Irving.
