Betty Ann Johnson, was born to Lyle and Lois Maxine Tripplett Salyars on August 22, 1936 in Carroll, Iowa. While growing up she attended school in Moscow and Wilton. Betty was a homemaker and was employed as a housekeeper. She was a member of the Red Hat Society. Betty is survived by her husband, Robert Thurber of Tipton, Iowa; daughters, Rita (Rick) Howard of Muscatine, Iowa, Lisa (Rich) Meiers of Tipton, Iowa, Michelle (Quenton) Jacoby of Tipton, Iowa; sons, Randy (Angela Seydel) Phelps of Iowa City, Iowa, Russ (Cindy) Phelps of Iowa City, Iowa, Roger (Tamara Uptain) Phelps of Iowa City, Iowa; sister, Rosa Lea Bowdish of Davenport, Iowa; brothers, Lowell Salyars of Rochester, Iowa, Donald Salyars of DeWitt, Iowa, Robert Salyars of Comanche, Iowa, Gary Salyars of Stanwood, Iowa; 15 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Lois Salyars; husbands, Keith Duane Phelps in 2001, Carl Johnson in 1999, Gene Harden in 1993; brothers, Billy Salyars and Charles Salyars; sister, Mary Wynett; and grandchildren, Chris Reed, Elizabeth Reed, Kelsy Lenz and Jeremy Phelps. Memorials may be made to the Betty Johnson Memorial Fund.
