Betty Jane McGregor, 89, of Lone Tree, formerly of Tipton, died Wednesday, January 4, 2012 in her daughter's home where she had lived for the past 3 years. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, January 7, 2011 at 11:00 am, Fry Funeral Home, Tipton with burial to follow in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery. Casket bearers are: Kurt Swart, Sherri McGregor, Jane Drahovzal, Kim Russell, Andrew Meyer and Eric Kirkpatrick. Honorary casket bearers will be: Rick Meyer & Denise Davis, Steve & Michelle Meyer, Scott Meyer, Terry Drahovzal, Jeff Wittenberg, Marcia Kirkpatrick, Barb Wilson, Jenae & Billy Jenkins, Todd & Wendy McGregor. Visitation will be Friday from 4:00 - 7:00 pm at the funeral home. Betty Jane Moore McGregor, was born August 29, 1922 in Jones County, Iowa and was the daughter of Leonard and Laura Heaster Moore. On August 5, 1938 Betty was united in marriage to Robert Lewis McGregor in Tipton. Betty was a business woman. She did the bookkeeping for their service station business, owned the Meet-N-Eat, and worked at The Coast To Coast Hardware Store. Owned and operated the Mode-O-Day and Betty & Vi's clothing store, all in Tipton, and finally retiring at the age of 75. Betty loved life and her family. She was a legend in Horse Shoe Pitching, having won numerous tournaments and was inducted into the Horse Shoe Pitching Hall Of Fame. She was an avid bowler, a loving mother, grandmother and sister. Betty is survived by her daughter, Dixie (David) Meyer of Lone Tree, Iowa; her son, Terry (Darlene) McGregor of Coralville, Iowa; 12 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, 2 great-great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert L. McGregor; son, Jerry McGregor; grandson, Kevin Swart; sisters, Galie Britcher, Neoma Jackson, Myra Nalley, Kathryn Pierce and Valda Barber; brothers, Chancey, Doug, Leo and Calvin Moore.
