Calvin Seward Moore, son of Leonard Lee and Laura Isabelle Heister Hovey Moore, was born February 27, 1916, in Jones County, Iowa. He attended school in Tipton while growing up. Calvin was united in marriage to Ellen Louise Lehr on December 9, 1939 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Calvin was a farmer and worked as a seed corn salesman. He was a member of the Golden Rule Masonic Lodge #24, Rochester and I-Club. Calvin was a life long member of the Methodist Church. He served on the Co-op Board and the Conservation Board. Calvin was an avid sports fan and watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate was the highlight of his life. Calvin is survived by his wife, Ellen Moore of Tipton, Iowa; daughter, Cheri (Bud) Crisp of Menifee, California; son, Douglas (Donna) Moore of Ellinwood, Kansas; 6 grandchildren, Jeffrey, Robert, and Patrick Moore of Oklahoma, Dennis Moore of Washington, Barton Miller of Clarence, Iowa and Darren Miller of Tipton, Iowa; 17 great-grandchildren, 4 great-great-grandchildren; sister, Betty McGregor of Lone Tree, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Chancy, Doug and Leo Moore; sisters, Galilie Britcher, Neoma Jackson, Myra Nalley, Kathrine Pierce, Valda Barber; 2 great-grandchildren. Memorial may be made to the Golden Rule Masonic Lodge #24 in memory of Calvin.
