Carol Lee Steinberg, 88, of Tipton, passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 1, 2025, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics following complications of a stroke. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com.

Born Carol Lee Malone to Floyd and Lorine (Hollrah) Malone on April 10, 1937, in Charter Oak, Iowa, Carol possessed a natural elegance that extended beyond her style into the very fabric of her life. After graduating from Charter Oak High School, she pursued her talents at LaJames College of Hairstyling, where she mastered the art of beauty and design. Whether through her work as a cosmetologist, seamstress, or designer, Carol’s refined touch and meticulous attention to detail spoke to her innate sense of sophistication and care.

Beyond her professional accomplishments, Carol was deeply devoted to her faith and community. She was an active member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Manson, Iowa, and generously shared her love of the arts with the Manson Meridian Singers and the Manson Community Theater. For several years, she played a vital role in the theater, assisting with makeup, choreography, and ticket sales—bringing her signature elegance and creative touch to every performance.

Carol’s most treasured role was that of a devoted wife and mother. She married the love of her life, Raymond Earl Steinberg, on February 21, 1964, in Rockwell City, Iowa. Together, they built a life filled with laughter, devotion, and countless cherished moments. After 55 beautiful years of marriage, Ray preceded her in death on April 9, 2019.

Carol’s greatest legacy, however, was the boundless love she poured into her children, Shannon McHugh (husband Mark) of Jefferson, Iowa; Devon Saunders of Plainfield, Illinois; Amber Moeller (husband Russell) of Tipton, Iowa; and Clayton Malone Steinberg of Omaha, Nebraska. Her love for them was unwavering, and her presence was a source of light, comfort, and inspiration. She is also survived by seven adoring grandchildren, Alex McHugh, Quinn (Matt) Tillman, Madison (Jeffrey) Workman, Kiley Saunders, Drew Moeller, Jake Saunders, and Nate (Komachi) Moeller.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her beloved husband Raymond, her brother Royce Malone, and her sister Audrey Stout.

A memorial fund has been established, with proceeds benefiting Friends of the Animals of Tipton—a fitting tribute to Carol’s generous spirit and deep compassion.

Her dignity, kindness, and timeless elegance will remain in the hearts of her family and friends forever.
