Charlene Myers, 83, of Tipton, Iowa, passed away on April 13, 2026, with her family by her side.
A visitation will be held at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton on Thursday, April 16, 2026 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Following the visitation, family and friends are invited to the Tipton VFW for a time of fellowship and to celebrate Charlene’s life.
Charlene was born on January 29, 1943, in Alva, Oklahoma, the daughter of Ada (Clemons) and Charles Vore Sr. Her father passed away in 1945. Charlene and her brother, Charles Jr., were raised in California by their mother and stepfather, John McCabe.
While in California, Charlene met the love of her life, Larry Myers, who was from Bennett, Iowa and attending college. The couple was united in marriage on April 21, 1962. They later made their home in Utah before settling in Bennett, where they owned and operated The Pub. Together, they were blessed with three sons: Ken (Bobbie), Kelly (Lamai), and Doug (Brandy).
Charlene loved life and was a devoted wife and mother. She enjoyed spending time on the golf course and relaxing on the deck with family and friends. Over the years, she and Larry traveled to many places, often centered around their shared love of golf.
Charlene was employed by Liberty Trust & Savings Bank in Bennett for 31 years, retiring as Vice President. She also volunteered at the local senior apartments and, following her retirement, served as the Bennett City Clerk.
Charlene is survived by her beloved husband, Larry; her sons, Ken (Bobbie), Kelly (Lamai), and Doug (Brandy); her grandchildren, Marie, Allison, and Bryce; and her great-grandchildren, Easton and Hudson.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother; her grandson, Leo Myers; and many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
The family would like to extend their sincere thanks to the staff at Cedar Manor, Cedar County Public Health, St. Croix Hospice, and Fry Funeral Home for their care and compassion.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Cedar Valley Humane Society or Tipton VFW Post 2537.
