Cindy Louise Young Schnede, 58, of Cohasset, Minnesota, formerly of Tipton, died on Sunday evening in Grand Itasca Hospital, Grand Rapids, Minnesota from complications of lung cancer. A Celebration of Life service will be held Saturday, October 1, 2011 at 2:00 pm, First United Church of Christ, Tipton. Family will receive friends from 1 - 2 pm at the church prior to the service. Burial will follow in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery. Cindy was born August 20, 1953 in Anamosa, Iowa and was the daughter of Martin James and Evelyn Edna Moeller Young Sterner. Cindy graduated from Tipton High School in 1971 and later graduated from the Capri College of Cosmetology in Davenport, Iowa. Cindy was a beautician and worked as a secretary for Harry's Tire Service in Lowden, Iowa. Cindy was united in marriage to Joni Schnede on April 1, 1979 in Minnesota. He preceded her in death. She was confirmed in the First United Church of Christ and was of the protestant faith. Cindy lived in Minnesota since 1978. Cindy was a fun loving daughter, sister, aunt, step-mother and friend to so many. She was always on the go with a bubbly personality. Cindy was the proud owner of Country Cutters Salon in Remer, MN for 10 years where she loved making everyone happy with her talent as a beautician. Cindy is survived by her mother, Evelyn Sterner, of Tipton, IA; sister, Laurie Smith of Benedict, MN; brothers, David (Faye) Young, Michael (Rhonda) Young, Jerry Young all of Tipton, IA and Timothy Young of Cohasset, MN; step-daughter, Jodi Hennings of Lowden, IA; step-son, Jamie Schnede of Florida; step-sisters, Stephanie (Don) Herington of Davenport, IA, Susan Sterner of Iowa City, IA, Shelly Sterner of Rock Island, IL, Shawn Sterner of Coralville, IA; step-brothers, Steve Sterner and Lee Sterner of Tipton, IA; several nieces, nephews, friends; and her special little Yorkie, Chiclet. She was preceded in death by her father, Martin Young; step-father, Dale Sterner; grandparents, Sylvester and Myrtle Young and Walter and Clara Moeller. She will be greatly missed by all her loved ones.
