Curtis Lee Bothel was born December 14, 1934, the son of Earl Francis & Irene Havlicek Bothel, in Monona, Iowa. He was a 1952 graduate of Monona High School. Curtis was employed as a truck mechanic at Bob Zimmerman Ford, retiring in 1999 after 39 years. He then worked at PerMar Security. Curtis was a member of Lisbon United Methodsit Church, the Elks Club of Cedar Rapids, Teamsters Local #238, Dreamer Camper Club, GWRRA (Gold Wing Road Riders Assn.), and AGWA (American Gold Wing Assn.) He is loved and missed by his wife, Muriel Jeanie" Bothel of Mt. Vernon Iowa; daughter Trisha Almond & husband Kent of Puyallup Washington; son Todd Bothel of Davie Florida; grandchildren Allegra Marissa and Meghan; sisters Dorla Drahn & husband Bob of Monona Iowa and Ruth Gerndt & husband Robert of McGregor Iowa; and sister-in-law Gloria Bothel of Venita Oregon. He was preceded in death by his parents Earl & Irene Bothel; brothers Roger and Earl Jr.; step-sister Beverly Sawvell; step-mother Lorraine Bothel; and parent-in-laws Claude & Dorothy MItchell. Memorials may be made to Mercy Hospice in Cedar Rapids Iowa and the American Cancer Society. A special thank you to Hospice Care Mercy in Cedar Rapids."
