Daniel R. McDonald, 65, of Tipton, died on Wednesday, October 12, 2011 in University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics of complications of a stroke. Funeral services will be held on Monday, October 17, 2011, 10:00 AM, St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tipton. Burial will follow in Rock Island National Cemetery. Visitation Monday 9:00 a.m. until time of service at the church. A memorial gathering of family and friends will be held Sunday, 5:00 - 8:00 pm, St. Mary's Hall, Tipton, Ia. Born February 28, 1946 in Davenport, Iowa, Dan was the son of Clayton McDonald and Joyce Wood McDonald Graves. He attended Davenport Central High School and enlisted in the US Navy. Dan was united in marriage to Donna Jean Curtis on October 7, 1964 in Davenport. He worked for the Rock Island Railroad as a switchman until the railroad disbanded and then he specialized in towing aircraft at McQuillen AFB. Dan was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, Tipton and a member of the Knights of Columbus. Surviving is his wife, Donna, of Tipton; daughters, Teralyn (Ronald) Matthess of West Branch, Ia., Donna (Jeff) Hoenig of Tipton, Ia.; sons, Daniel (Debra) McDonald, II,. of Tipton, Ia., Curtis (Joanna) McDonald of Tipton, Ia., Joe (Dianne) McDonald of Tipton, Ia., Greg (Jessie) McDonald of West Branch, Ia., Randy (Jeanine) McDonald of Solon, Ia., Jake (Becky) McDonald of Centerville, Ia.; sisters, Vicky (Tim) Peek of Walcott, Ia., Tina (Jim) Miller of Altoona, Ia., Sue (Steve) Fowler of Montpelier, Ia., Cathy (James) Graft of North Liberty, Ia., Carol (Carl) Fobian of West Branch, Ia., Patty (Eric) Depoorter of West Branch, Ia., Debbie (Dennis) Driscoll of Mechanicsville, Ia., brothers, David McDonald of Davenport, Ia., Terry McDonald of Texas., Mike McDonald of Davenport, Ia., Tim McDonald of Davenport, Ia., Bud (Kathy) McDonald of Centerville, Ia., Keenan (Shelia) Graves, Jr. of West Branch, Ia., Ted Graves of West Branch, Ia., 27 Grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, Keenan & Joyce Graves and Clayton and Betty McDonald; sister, Ginger Brooks and his aunt, Joan Bradley.
