Darrell Vearl Gritton

Darrell Vearl Gritton, 73, of Rochester, passed away Friday, July 1, 2016 at his home. Visitation will be held at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton on Tuesday, July 5th from 10:00-11:00 am, with the funeral service to immediately follow at 11:00 am. Interment will be held at Rochester Cemetery. Following the interment, friends and family may gather at the Tipton V.F.W. for a time of food and remembrance. A memorial fund in Darrell's honor has been established. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com. On February 19, 1943 on the family farm in Rochester, Darrell was born to Vearl and Minnie (Osborn) Gritton. He attended and graduated from Tipton High School before joining the Army Reserves. Darrell married his life partner, the late Deanna (Pierce) Gritton in Rochester on September 16, 1961 where they have since resided and raised their 3 children: Crystal, Roger and Rick. Darrell's years of employment were spent driving truck with the majority of them being the owner/operator at Moorman's feed. In Darrell's younger years, he enjoyed being able to travel with his wife, dancing and hosting social parties in their home. Boating and deer hunting, socializing with friends and spending time with family were also things Darrell enjoyed. Always ready to listen or tell a story, Darrell never met a stranger. Darrell is survived by his 3 children, Crystal (Henry) Harden of Rochester, Roger (Carolyn) Gritton of Buchannan ,Rick (Joanne) Gritton, of Rochester; brother, Leland (Karen) Gritton; sister-in-law, Gracie Gritton; grandchildren, Morgan and Chandler Harden, Taylor and Spencer Gritton; 4 step-grandchildren, Adrienne (Ed) Mesick, Jaclyn (Scott Meinert) Harden, Lacy (Doug) Schmitz, Audie Puck; step-great-grandchildren, Quinten and Kaleb Mesick, Hugh Schmitz, Spencer, Savannah and Finnley Meinert. Darrell was preceded in death by his parents, wife, and brother, Norman.
