David Kendall Brobst, 68 years of age, passed away on Monday, October 7th in the comfort of his home. David will be cremated and there will be a Gathering of Family and Friends on Saturday, October 26, 2024 from 1:00 to 4:00 pm at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com.
David was born on October 3, 1956 in Estherville, Iowa. He was the son of Donald and Donna Mae Ahrens Brobst. He graduated from Estherville High School with the Class of 1974 and enlisted in the United States Navy where he served his country for a total of 20 years. David was united in marriage to Jennifer Gail Zimmer on April 15, 1983 in Tipton. Jennifer passed away peacefully on September 12, 2020 also in the same home.
David was a man who could do just about anything with his hands. He worked for Sadler Powertrain for 15 years, working behind the parts desk but preferred repairing PTO’s, flywheels and clutches. David was also a talented musician. If it had strings on it, he could play it. Guitar, banjo, violin, etc. He was known to still change his own oil in his car. A task that would latterly take him only 10 minutes. David was gifted in many areas of life but with all of his talents his two greatest fans are still his two sons, Owen and Nathan.
David is survived by his sons, Owen Brobst of Mechanicsville and Nathan (Katie) Brobst of Des Moines, two grandsons (Tripp and Nolan), his mother, Donna Mae Brobst and his siblings, Shelley Lindell, Douglas Brobst, Jeff Brobst and Mike Brobst. David was preceded in death by his father, Donald Brobst and his infant brother, Greg Brobst. As the song by Vince Gill says, “Go rest high on that mountain, your work on earth is done”.
