Deloroes Fern Schmidt

Deloroes Fern Schmidt, 82, Tipton, died Thursday, April 19, 2012 at the Mercy Hospital in Iowa City. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, April 21, 11:00 A.M. at the Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Burial will follow in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery, Tipton, Iowa. Visitation will be held on Saturday from 9:30 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. at the Fry Funeral Home. Deloroes was born on October 3, 1929 on the family farm north of Calamus, Iowa and was the daughter of Herman A. and Eleanor C. Toerber Soenksen. She attended Wheatland High School. On January 21, 1950 she was united in marriage to Clarence Schmidt in Davenport, Iowa. She and her husband moved to Tipton in 1984 after farming for many years in the Bennett area. He preceded her in death on April 4, 2006. Deloroes is survived by her two sons, Roger (Gloria) & Robert (Cheryl) Schmidt both of Clarence; two grandchildren, Angie Schmidt and Travis Schmidt; two brothers, Kenneth Soenksen of Marion, IA & Jerry Soenksen of Fairfield Glade, TN. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.
