Listen to Obituary

Diana Kay Tigrett, 77, of Atalissa, Iowa, passed away peacefully at home on October 17, 2025, surrounded by the love of her family.

Born October 11, 1948, in Davenport, Iowa, Diana was the daughter of Zip & Darlene Spencer. She graduated from Central High School in Davenport in 1966 and spoke often of when she was young, the joy she found visiting her Grandparent’s farm in Rochester, Iowa.  On June 18, 1966, she married Bud Tigrett in Davenport, IA. Together they raised four children: John, Darryn, Kay, & Mary. Diana later earned her degree in Computer Programming from Scott Community College. She graduated with highest honors, a reflection of her intelligence, determination, and work ethic.

Diana answered to many names throughout her life, each reflecting a role she embraced with joy. To her mother she was “Debbie,” to friends and family she was often “Diane,” and to those closest to her she became wife, Mom, sister, Grandma, and more. Each name carried with it a story of love, connection, and the many ways she touched the lives around her.

A woman of deep faith, Diana was a devoted member of the LDS Church in Muscatine, where she participated in the Relief Society. Diana & Bud were sealed in the Nauvoo Temple, a covenant that reflected her lifelong devotion to her beliefs. Diana lived always carrying with her a spirit of generosity, creativity, and service.

Her talents were many: she was an accomplished seamstress, a gifted gardener who filled her yards with flowers, and a lover of music & dancing. She was known for her sweet tooth—especially ice cream & Pepsi—and for her joy in bargain shopping and garage sales. Family & friends will remember her tendency to run right up to the last minute, and her standing up for what she believed. Above all, she delighted in giving to others, especially her grandchildren, finding joy in meeting their everyday needs as much as in celebrating special occasions.

Diana was preceded in death by her parents, Zip & Darlene Spencer, and her sister, Cindy Worden. She is survived by her husband, Bud; children, John (Jennifer) Tigrett, Darryn (Donna Tyrrel) Tigrett, Kay Bentley, and Mary (Jacob Elliott) Tigrett; 15 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. Her legacy of faith, creativity, and love will live on in each of them.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, October 22, 2025, from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Muscatine, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. A luncheon will be served at the church prior to burial at Rochester Cemetery. Online condolences and service details may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com.
