Donald Alan Hennings

Donald Allen Hennings, Sr., 84, of Rochester (Tipton) passed away Sunday, February 4, 2024 while under the care of Mercy Hospital (University of Iowa Health Care Medical Center Downtown). Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 10th at 10:30, Fry Funeral Home, Tipton with Military Honors bestowed at the conclusion of the service.  Cremation will follow the funeral and his cremated remains will be interred in Rochester Cemetery at a later date. Don was born on April 18, 1939 in rural Cedar County, Iowa. He was the son of Elmer H.P. Hennings and Iva Gritton Hennings. On February 23, 1966, Don was united in marriage to Joyce Ann Goldsmith in Clarence, Iowa. Don graduated through the Army with his GED and served his country serving in Korea. Don worked for Lear Manufacturing and Farmall Manufacturing as well as helping anyone during their time of need. He knew everyone and with Don there was no stranger in his vocabulary.

Don is survived by his wife, Joyce Hennings of Rochester, daughters, Deanna (Mike) Petersen of Pella, Iowa and Connie (Don) Byrnes of West Branch, Iowa, sons, Scott (Monica) Flynn of Marion, Texas and Donald Hennings, Jr.  of Marion, Iowa, 9 grandchildren and 16 great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by both parents, his son Mike, granddaughter Shelbe and his son-in-law Andy Petersen.
