Donald Armstrong, Jr

Donald Charles Armstrong, Jr., son of Donald Clement & Etta Beatrice Willey Armstrong, was born September 13, 1920 in Tipton, Iowa. He was a 1938 graduate of Tipton High School and attended Tipton Junior College. Donald served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during WWII. On December 7, 1940, Donald was united in marriage to his high school sweetheart, Bernita May Vitense in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He was a farmer and a pilot who never lost his love for the skies. Donald was a member of Farm Bureau, Tipton VFW, American Legion and was a Sr. Scout Master. Donald is loved and survived by his wife, Bernita Bea" Armstrong of Tipton Iowa; daughter Diane (Mrs. Glenn) Eaton of Tipton Iowa; grandchildren Sally & John Groves Kimberly & Terry Leitch Jill & Richard Rich; great-grandchildren Brent Hostler & Emily Desarae Sheppard & Chris Derek Sterner Brittney Sterner Garett Sterner Cole Leitch; great-great-grandchildren Devin Sterner Autumn Sheldahl; sister Carole (Robert) Turnquist of Des Moines Iowa. A general memorial fund has been established in honor of Donald."
