Doris 'Dorie' Nelle (Mcquillen) Heisch

Doris Nelle ‘Dorie’ Heisch, 75, of Lowden, entered eternity on Saturday, August 24, 2019 at 4:50 pm surrounded by her family in the comfort of her own home. Funeral services for Doris will be held on Wednesday, August 28, 2019 at 10:30 am, Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Burial will follow in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery. Visitation for Dorie will be Tuesday, August 27th from 4:00 to 7:00 pm at Fry Funeral Home. A memorial fund has been established in her memory.

Dorie, daughter of William Lester McQuillen and Helen Bernice Wharton McQuillen, was born on February 19, 1944 in the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics in Iowa City. She graduated from Tipton High School with the Class of 1962. On April 19, 1960 Dorie was married to Thomas F. Behrle in Stanwood, Iowa. They later divorced. Dorie was later united in marriage to Kenneth K. Heisch in 1966 in Rock Island. They later divorced. Dorie led a very busy life. She was a florist and owner of Flowers By Dorie in Lowden, worked as an accountant for Custom Builders in Tipton and for B & H Builders in Iowa City. Dorie volunteered as a Den Mother for the Boy Scouts, belonged to several bowling leagues, enjoyed golfing and belonged to the United Church of Christ in Lowden as well as being a loving mother, grandmother and great grandmother.

Dorie is remembered and survived by her three children; Robert Behrle and his wife, Pam of Hoover, Alabama; Sandy Behrle of Lowden, Iowa; Kelly (Heisch) Blowers and her husband, Shawn of Iowa City, Iowa; sister, Janice McCrea of Olin, Iowa; sisters-in-law, Patricia McQuillen of Moscow, Iowa and Sharon McQuillen of Kewanee, Illinois; 12 grandchildren; Alicia Schroeder Dinwiddie (Jamie) of Clarksburg, MD; Derek Schroeder of Walford, IA; Colton Behrle of Atlanta, GA; Logan Behrle of Columbiana, AL; Jessie Behrle of Columbiana, AL; Zoe Behrle of Hoover, AL; Nicole Chapman Hurley (Nick) of Helena, AL; Stephanie Biggs Chapman (Chris) of Conroy, IA; Keely Biggs of Coralville, IA; Samantha Blowers of Cedar Rapids, IA; Sara Blowers of Cedar Rapids, IA; and Ashley Blowers Harvey (Brandon) of Davenport, IA;  8 great-grandchildren; Owen, Joanna and Cassandra Dinwiddie of Clarksburg, MD; Lexi Schroeder of Walford, IA; Redmond Chapman of Conroy, IA; Parker Biggs of Coralville, IA; Fallyn Harvey of Davenport, Iowa; and Victoria and Nixon Hurley of Helena, AL. She was preceded in death by her parents, Bill and Helen McQuillen of Tipton; her son, Bret J. Behrle; sister and brother-in-law, Vivian and Henry Wiskus of Tipton, brothers, Warren McQuillen and his first wife, Betty “Joann”  of Kewanee, Illinois, Francis McQuillen of Tipton, and Lewis McQuillen of Moscow and brother-in-law, Darrel McCrea of Olin.
