Dorothy Siebke Bachus, 92, of Bennett, peacefully passed away Thursday, January 9, 2014 at Country Manor in Davenport, IA. Funeral services for Dorothy will be held Monday, January 13, 2014 at 10:30am at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton, IA. Visitation services for family and friends will also be held on Sunday, January 12, 2014 from 1 to 4pm. Pastor Ron Lashmit will be officiating. A luncheon will be held at the Bennett American Legion Hall following burial at Inland Cemetery, Bennett. Memorials can be designated in her honor to the Bennett Ambulance or the Bennett Fire Department. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com. Dorothy was born September 15, 1921, the daughter of Albert and Elfrieda Siebke in Stockton, IA. She attended Stockton Country School until the 8th grade. Dorothy married Delmar Bachus in Davenport, IA on her birthday, September 15, 1945. She was a homemaker and a mother. She and Delmar had 4 children, Beverly, Tamara, Duane and Gary. Dorothy and her family lived on two farms in rural Bennett before moving into the City of Bennett in 1986. Dorothy attended Peace Church in Bennett, IA. She was a member of Bennett Lion's Club and Stockton Royal Neighbors. She enjoyed playing BINGO, puzzles, cards and watching the Cubs and Bears. She was a wonderful baker and cook. Dorothy was known for her baked spaghetti and meatballs, Christmas fritters (with raisins and with-out raisins), and duck with sweet dressing. Christmas was when she would bake dozens upon dozens of cut-out butter cookies, which were all meticulously and creatively decorated to holiday perfection. She loved gardening, her chickens and cracked walnuts. Dorothy faithfully attended all of her children and grandchildren's activities; she was steadfast and loyal to those she loved. Dorothy is survived by her daughters Beverly (Micheal) Horstmann of Bennett, IA, and Tamara (Melvin) Vavricek of Center Point, IA; sons Duane (Linda)Bachus of Durant, IA, and Gary (Becky) Bachus of Madison, WI; sister Gloria Fox of Stockton; sister-in-laws Ruth Siebke and Dorothy Siebke; 8 grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 7 great-grandchildren; 4 step-great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great-grandchild. Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Delmar, brothers Eugene Siebke and Wilbert Siebke; grandson, Mark Horstmann; stepfather, Victor Krebs; and brother-in-law Don Fox.
