Douglas Lee Brennan, 58, Iowa City and formerly of Tipton, passed away suddenly Saturday, May 21, 2016 at the University of Iowa Hospital. Service information is as follows: Visitation at Fry Funeral Home Thursday, May 26th from 9:30-10:45 am. Graveside service will immediately follow at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Tipton. All family and friends are invited to a luncheon at St. Mary's Hall, Tipton, following the graveside committal. A memorial fund in Doug's honor has been established. Born in Cedar Rapids, Iowa on September 6, 1957 to Robert and Jeanette (Deke) Brennan, Doug was the oldest of seven children. Doug attended and graduated Tipton High School with the class of 1977. He also obtained his CDL from Kirkwood College in Cedar Rapids. Doug moved to Texas for 16 years before returning to Iowa in 1995. The majority of his employment years were spent working at Sheller Globe-United Technology from where he decided to retire early, in 2014. In Doug's younger years, he enjoyed taking long runs around the pastures on the family farm; playing softball with his siblings, pitching was his favorite; and always trying to stop his 2 younger brothers from making bad choices. Doug was an avid football fan, proudly proclaiming the Dallas Cowboys as his team. He had several programs on TV that he enjoyed watching; Duck Dynasty, Saturday Night Live, Nascar and of course Dallas football games. Reading the newspaper, Time magazine and playing dominoes were also things Doug enjoyed. Doug is survived by his parents, four sisters, Lisa Brennan of North Liberty, Laura Demuth of Illinois, Barbara (Jim) Williams of Libertyville, Iowa, Nancy (Todd) Zach of Swisher; brother, David (Linda) Brennan of Swisher. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Bessie and Leo Brennan, Hubert and Kate Deke, Evelyn McGill and his brother, Bart.
