Funeral services for Duane A. Dotson, 90, of Atalissa who died Thursday, June 27, 2013, at Cedar Manor Nursing Home, Tipton, will be held Monday, July 1, 2013 at 10:30 am at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Pastor Jonathan Smith will be officiating. There will be a visitation at Fry Funeral Home from 3-6 pm on Sunday, June 30, 2013. Casket bearers will be grandsons; Brade DiRiemacker, Jeremy Dotson, Robert Dotson, and Eric Adams; and David Kirchner and Bill Kofron who are like sons to Duane and Maralee. Honorary casket bearers are Donald Owen, Jack Simon, Don Pelzer, Lane Reid, and Bryan Regennitter. Burial will be at the West Liberty Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Tipton Bible Church or Cedar Manor Nursing Home in memory of Duane. Duane, son of Shirrel and Ethel Crees Dotson, was born May 21, 1923, in Cedar County Iowa. In 1924, he moved to the farm where he resided for the rest of his life. He was a graduate of Springdale High School. On November 13, 1954, Duane was united in marriage to Maralee Joyce Williams at the Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Duane devoted his life to his family and farming. He was a member of the Tipton Bible Church, 50 year member Spotted Poland Assn., Cedar County Pork Producers, Iowa Bowling Assn., and was a Committeeman for Cedar County ASCS. Duane is loved and survived by his wife, Maralee Dotson of Atalissa; daughters, Becky (David) Mills of West Liberty, Sandra (Dave) Duncan of Austin, Texas, Dana (Kevin) Pfister of West Liberty, Krista (Andy) DeRiemacker of Atalissa, and Ann Dotson (Darryll Alke) of West Liberty; son, Jim (Teri) Dotson of Wilton; 9 grandchildren, Nichelle Mills, Justin Dotson, Robert Dotson, Angela Wyatt, David Dotson, Jeremy Dotson, Amber Nelson, Brade DeRiemacker, and Eric Adams; and 8 great-grandchildren, Bain Dotson, Brayden Woodburn, Gabe Woodburn, Lillian Wyatt, Jacob Dotson, Jenna Dotson, Kael Nelson, and Avery Nelson. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Marilyn; daughter, Diane; and brothers, Glenn and Carl.
