Edward Albert Ketelsen, 74, of Tipton, passed away peacefully in his home with his family by his side on Friday, February 26, 2016. Visitation will be Tuesday, March 1st from 4:00-7:00 pm at Fry Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, March 2nd at 10:30 am, Fry Funeral Home. Graveside services will be at Tipton Masonic Cemetery immediately following the funeral service. A memorial fund in Ed's honor has been established. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com. Ed was born on April 24, 1941, on a rural farm in Lime City to Arnold and Clara (Almandinger) Ketelsen. He attended and graduated from Bennett High School before meeting the love of his life, Margaret, while working on her father's farm. They were united in marriage on April 28, 1963. Ed and Margaret began their married life together in Tipton where they raised their 4 children: Jenny, Mary Jo, Edward, Jamie. Ed's beginning years of employment were spent farming before later becoming a Truck Driver for Hawkeye Transporter in Stanwood until retirement. He was a member of the 4-H, Lion's Club and St. Paul Lutheran Church. Ed loved to spend time outdoors; he and Margaret spent a great deal of time volunteering at the Tipton Community Garden. He also enjoyed playing card games, (Euchre and Hand & Foot) with Margaret and their neighbors. Ed had a great passion for life and constructing new projects; from refurbishing furniture to reclaiming old barn boards; family, however, was Ed's heart and life, A true and genuine man, thankful for and proud of his family. Ed is survived by his wife, Margaret (Armstrong) Ketelsen; daughters, Jenny (Rex) Idlewine and Mary Jo (Brian) Heil; sons, Edward (Lynn) Ketelsen and Jamie (Leanne) Ketelsen; sister, Arvella (Eldon) Pewe; brother, William (Janet) Ketelsen; 16 grandchildren and 10 Great-grandchildren with 1 on the way. He was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, four brothers and two grandchildren.
