Elizabeth "Betty" Rose Wright, 54, of Tipton, Iowa, passed away at her home in the presence of her loving family, on Friday, February 28, 2014. Visitation services for Betty will be Tuesday, March 4, 2014 from 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton, Iowa with a rosary at 3:30 p.m. for friends and family. Funeral services, at the St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tipton, Iowa, will be held on Wednesday, March 5, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. Betty will be laid to rest at the Tipton Masonic Cemetery. A luncheon will be held at St. Mary's Hall following graveside services. Memorials may be made in Betty's honor to Hospice Compassus, Cedar County Public Health or Women of St. Mary's. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com. Betty was born January 15, 1960, the daughter of Leonard and Mary Ellen Weiland, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Betty is a 1978 graduate of Lincoln Community High School and earned her Bachelor's degree in Family and Consumer Sciences from Iowa State University. Betty married Kevin Wright in Mechanicsville, Iowa at St. Mary's Catholic Church on August 29, 1992. Together they loved and raised their children, Alisha, Ryan, Joel and Benjamen. Betty was a clerical employee for A.C.T. for 14 years. She also worked at Tipton Senior Center, Tipton State Bank and Hawkeye Bank. She was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church in Tipton, Iowa. She served on St. Bernadette's Circle and was a past board member of Cedar County Coordinated Child Care. Betty enjoyed gardening, volleyball, flowerbeds, playing with her dog, Chloe, redecorating the house, reading, spending time with her family and friends, and was a devout follower of Christ her entire life. Betty is loved and survived by her mother, Mary Ellen Weiland of Stanwood, Iowa; husband, Kevin of Tipton, Iowa; daughter, Alisha Wright of Tipton, Iowa; sons, Ryan Wright of Tipton, Iowa, Joel (Shelby) Mixdorf of Iowa City, Iowa and Benjamen Mixdorf of Sioux City, Iowa; brothers, Thomas (Dawn) Weiland of Stanwood, Iowa, Charles (Kathy) Weiland of Remsen, Iowa and Michael (Laurie) Weiland of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; mother and father-in law, Alvin and Mary Wright of Tipton; brother-in-law, Kerry (Chris) Wright of Tipton, Iowa; and sisters-in-law, Arlene Weiland of North Liberty, Iowa and Amy (Scott) Kenworthy of Roulett, Texas. She was preceded in death by her father in 1997; brother, Eugene "Buzz" Weiland; and sister-in-law, Michele Wright of Tipton, Iowa. Betty's greatest joy was spending time and making memories with her children.
