Ellen Francis Mixell

Ellen F. Mixell, 72, of Tipton, died peacefully Saturday, November 3, 2012 at 8:15 pm in her home with her family by her side. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, November 7, 10:30 AM, Fry Funeral Home, Tipton with Rev. Ron Lashmit Officiating. Visitation will be held Tuesday from 4:00 to 7:00 PM at Fry's. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com. Ellen was born December 13, 1940 in Iowa City and was the daughter of William H. and Elle A. Lunow Sander. She was a member of the Class of 1959, graduating from Clarence High School. On June 16, 1962, Ellen was united in marriage to Elmer "Nick" Mixell in Stanwood, Iowa. Ellen was a homemaker and enjoyed counted cross-stitch, crotcheting and mending things for her family. She worked at Rockwell International for 9 years and US Nameplate for 2 years. She was a member of the St. Paul's Lutheran Church in Stanwood. Ellen is survived by her husband, Nick, of Tipton; daughter, Kim (Chad) Gadke of Tipton; son, Frank Mixell of Burlington; brothers, Leroy Sander and Everett (Irene) Sander of Tipton; 3 grandchildren, Kyle, Keely and Karlee Gadke; her very special friends, Carolyn Cooper of Apache Junction, AZ and Carol Worby of Stanwood, IA, and her dog, Wishbone. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters; Marie Sander and Dorothy Parrott; grandson, Kameron Gadke; nieces, Donna Zimmerman, Sharon Sander, Patricia Boedeker; and nephew, Doug Sander.
