Eloise Dorothy Shontz, 84, of Tipton died Monday, August 20, 2012 at her home in Tipton. Eloise was born January 27, 1928, the daughter of William and Bertha Siemsen Heick, in Inland Township, Bennett. She graduated Tipton High School in 1945 and was united in marriage to Bernal Shontz on May 12, 1946, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Bennett. She was employed as a coil winder and inspector for Wabash Transformers for 27 years. Eloise was of the protestant faith. Eloise is survived by her husband, Bernal Shontz of Tipton; daughters, Connie (Billy) Cain, Carla (Arlo) Merritt, and Sally Shontz all of Tipton; sons Gary (Margaret) Shontz of Cedar Falls, Ward (Judy) Shontz of Moscow; 12 grandchildren, 18 great-grandchildren, and sister, Edna Hartwig of Lowden. She was preceded in death by her parents, sister, Clara Hein and brother, Harold Heick. Funeral services for Eloise will be held Thursday August 23, 2012 at 10:30 am at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Linda Beck will be the Eulogist. There will be a visitation at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton on Wednesday, August 22, 2012 from 3-5 pm. Burial will be at Tipton Masonic Cemetery. A memorial fund has been established in her memory.
