Ethel Lucile Park, daughter of Mervin and Katharina Boettcher Baker, was born on December 9, 1913 in Cedar County, Iowa. Due to the fact that Ethel's father worked for many different farmers the family moved many times and Ethel attended different country schools. Ethel attended high school in Tipton and was a member of the graduating class of 1933. On April 16, 1939 Ethel was united in marriage to Homer V. Park in Rock Island, Illinois. Ethel worked as a homemaker, mother and housewife. When Homer died on August 5, 1965 Ethel knew that she would have to work to support herself. Ethel work as a housekeeper in Mercy Hospital in Iowa City and retired in 1978. Ethel was a past member of the Mt. Zion Community Workers and was always willing to help others whenever the need arose. Surviving Ethel is her daughter and son-in-law, Shirley and Jay Clark of LaClaire, Iowa; four grandchildren, Penny Munn of Las Vegas, Nevada, Jay Clark of Ankeny, Iowa, Jeffrey Clark of Maricopa, Arizona and Judd (Michelle) Clark of St. Joseph, Missouri; three great grandchildren, Brandi Munn, MacAlistair Clark and Parker Clark; sister, Violet Kelley of Wilton, Iowa; and many nieces and nephews and friends. Ethel was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, three sisters, Pearl Hipple, Gladys Miller and Jean Baker; two brothers, Earl Baker and Harry Baker. Ethel's family asks that you consider a memorial donation to Cedar Manor Nursing Home in lieu of flowers. There will a be a luncheon served in the lower level of the Fry Funeral Home following the graveside committal service and all friends and family are invited to share in the time of food and fellowship.
