Eva Brown

March 10, 1912 — August 26, 2004

Eva Marie McLain Brown, the daughter of Earl and Mary Ida Olson McLain, was born on March 10, 1912. She graduated from Tipton High School in 1930. Eva married Lawrence Brown on January 28, 1938, at The Little Brown Church in Nashua, Iowa. Eva worked in the Cedar County Auditor's Office for more that 30 years, retiring as Deputy Auditior in 1977. She also served as bookkeeper for Brown Farm Equipment, her husband's business. In her spare time Eva enjoyed bowling, crocheting, entertaining neighborhood children, and spending time with her sisters, nieces and nephews. She was a member of the United Methodist Church, UMW, and Eastern Star. Eva is survived by seven nieces, Lois Cline and Merry Ibsen of Iowa City, Iowa, Karen Patterson, of Connecticut, Kristine Bushnell, of Evanston, Illinois, Kathy Presson, of Huntsville, Alabama, Karol Kupka, of Chicago, Illinois and Karen Kissell, of Abbettstown, Pennsylviania; two nephews, Brett Eggert, of Tipton, Iowa and Kevin Pieper, of Hanover, Pennsylvania; and a sister-in-law, Helen Pieper, of Baltimore, Maryland. She was preceded in death by her parents, Earl & Mary McLain; her husband, Lawrence Brown in 1990; five sisters, Nola Eggert, Maybelle Looby, Marjorie Eggert, Elsie Kupka and Stella Barnes; one brother, Benjamin McLain; and a niece, Joan Barnes.
