Florence Fern Hutchens

Florence F. Hutchens, daughter of Walter J. A. and Amanda H. Dietz Thoene, was born October 25, 1917, in Muscatine County, Iowa. She was a 1936 graduate of Durant High School. She was united in marriage to Leander McLain Wathan in Davenport on Sept. 5, 1942. She later married Paul Vincent Hutchens on February 2, 1955 in Tipton. Florence was a past member of Walcott R.N.A., Tipton Legion Auxiliary, Moose Lodge and United Methodist Church. She is survived by her son, Terry Lee Wathan (Becky) of Durant, Iowa; granddaughter, Tamra (Geoff) Giese of Tipton, Iowa; and great-grandchildren, Sarina and Shayna Wathan-Grage. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husbands, grandson, Joshua M. Wathan; brother, Ralph Thoene; sister, Lois Wirth and brother-in-law, Sylvester Wirth. A general memorial fund has been established in memory of Florence.
