Forrest Duane Fitch

Memorial services for Forrest "Dewey" Duane Fitch, 86, of Tipton who died Thursday, February 23, 2012 at Mercy Hospital, Iowa City, will be held Tuesday, February 28 at 10:30 am at the First United Methodist Church, Tipton. Pastor Paul Frederiksen will be officiating. There will be a visitation at Fry Funeral Home, Tipton on Monday, February 27, 2012 from 4-7 pm. Burial will be at Tipton Masonic Cemetery with military rites provided by the Tipton American Legion and Tipton Veterans of Foreign Wars. Memorials may be made to Tipton Senior Center in memory of Dewey. Dewey was born September 22, 1925 in Tipton, Iowa. He was the son of Edward William and Elinor Nicholson Reeder Fitch. He served in the United States Coast Guard from 1942-1946 during WWII. Dewey was united in marriage to Beverly Maureen Reeve on April 28, 1951 in New Liberty, Iowa. He was a retired parts manager and mechanic at the Ford Garage in Tipton. Dewey was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Tipton, Durant American Legion and Tipton VFW Post 2537. Dewey is survived by his wife, Beverly Fitch of Tipton, Iowa; daughter, Sandra Corbett of Tipton, Iowa; sons, Lyle (Cynthia) Fitch of Tipton, Iowa, Brian (Hong) Fitch of West Westminster, Colorado, Brett (Keri) Fitch of Solon, Iowa; 12 grandchildren, 6 great-grandchildren; and brother, Donald "Dick" Fitch of Colorado Springs, Colorado. He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Donald Fitch; brothers, Alfred, Arthur, Charles, and Marvin Fitch.
