Frances Augusta Ford passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2025 at Prairie Hills Assisted Living. Funeral service will be Friday, June 20th at 11:00am at the Fry Funeral Home in Tipton. Visitation will immediately precede the service, from 10:00am-11:00am. Frances will then be laid to rest at the Tipton Masonic Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given in her memory to the United Methodist Church of Tipon, Tipton Senior Center or Cedar County Historical Society.
Frances was born in Lowden Iowa on August 21st, 1924, to Frank and Ida Eggert Ball. She was baptized and confirmed at Lowden Evangelical and Reformed Church. She graduated from Lowden High School in 1941. The family moved to Tipton in June 1941. Frances began working at Smith’s Ready to Wear. She married Marvin Ford on July 21st, 1946, in the United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on August 11, 2020.
She was a charter member of the VWF Ladies Auxiliary and served the Tipton Methodist Church as the Sunday School Superintendent and volunteered at their Food Pantry. She worked part-time at the Tipton Bootery as well as bookkeeper for Ford Truck Line.
After retirement, she and Marvin spent many winters in Texas as well as traveling the United States on vacations. The annual family fishing trips to Minnesota and Canada found her fishing for walleyes. She was always a great supporter of her kids and grandkids activities.
She is survived by sons, Richard (Liz) Ford of Cedar Falls and Don (Diane) Ford of Cortez Florida. Daughters Trudy Campbell, Hawkeye, and Teri Ford (special friend Gene Regennitter) of Tipton. 7 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and 5 great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son-in-law, 2 sisters, 3 brothers and 2 great-grandchildren.
