Frances Josephine Carl

Frances J. Carl, 94, formerly of Lowden, died Thursday, March 8, 2012, Cedar Manor Nursing Home, Tipton. The Final Farewell Remembrance Service will be held on Monday, March 12th at 10:30 AM, Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. The Rev. David Mears from St. Johns United Church of Christ in Clarence is officiating. Burial and graveside rites will follow in the Red Oak Grove Cemetery north of Tipton. Visitation will be from 9:30 till the time of the service on Monday. Frances was born July 8, 1917 in Center Township, Cedar County, Iowa and was the daughter of Forest D. and Edna O. Miller Carl. Frances graduated from the Onslow High School and worked for the public most of her adult life being a receptionist in both dentistry and advertising in Iowa, Texas, Mississippi and Florida. She was a past member of the Presbyterian and Baptist faith and lastly was a member of St. John's United Church of Christ in Clarence. Frances is survived by a sister-in-law, Betty Carl, and many more nieces and nephews and cousins. She was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Irma Barr and Ruby Holub, and her brother, Melvin Carl. A memorial fund has been established in her memory to create a scholarship fund for math and science. Fry Funeral Home is caring for Frances and her family.
