Franklin Port Stonerook, was born December 15, 1922 on the Family Century Farm south of Clarence to Alvin O. & Erma C. Port Stonerook. He was a 1940 graduate of Clarence High School and Tipton Jr. College. Port served in the United States Navy from 1943 - 1947. Port loved flying but, when his father died at an early age Port decided to operate the family farm. On September 1, 1948, Port was united in marriage to Geraldine Laura Heick in Olin, Iowa. He later married Thelma Nebergall on April 16, 1994, in Tipton, Iowa. He was a member of the United Methodist Church, Cedar County Farm Bureau and belonged to the Clarence American Legion for over 60 years. Port is survived by his wife, Thelma Nebergall of Tipton, Iowa; daughter, Barbara Stonerook of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; sons, Darrell (Sue) Stonerook of Alburnett, Iowa, Duane (Karen) Stonerook of Clarence, Iowa; step-son, Kevin (Kay) Nebergall of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; grandchildren, Keaton Hepker of Marion, Millie Stonerook of Charlotte, Kevin & Deb Stonerook of Hawaii, Bryan Stonerook of Alburnett, Jason & Kim Stonerook of Decorah, Justin Stonerook of Iowa City; step-grandchildren, Jason Nebergall of Chicago, Kristin Nebergall of Ames; great-grandchildren, Xaviar, Hannah, Dylan, Shelby, Andrew, Tyler, and Gabriella. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin & Erma Stonerook; wife, Gerladine Heick Stonerook on June 25, 1991; and sister, Eleanor Stonerook on October 20, 2000. Memorials may be made to the Franklin Port Stonerook Memorial Fund.
