Frederick Hansen

Frederick John Hansen, son of Walter John and Alva Delores Smith Hansen was born April 13, 1940 in Rochester, Iowa. He was a 1957 graduate of West Branch High School. Fred served his country in the United States Army from 1958 - 1978. While serving in Toul, France, Fred met and married Ginette Poulette Gatto. He was later employed in the engineering department at Mercy Hospital in Iowa City where he worked for 20+ years. Fred enjoyed playing cards with his Rochester card playing club. He liked listing to 50 and 60 music and loved cars. Fred is survived by his mother, Delores Hansen of Tipton, Iowa; son, Lionel and wife, Marja Gatto of Tipton, Iowa; grandchildren, Tommie and Johnathan Gatto; sister, Vicky Latham of Iowa City, Iowa, Barrie Espinosa of Iowa City, Iowa; and brother, Bryon Hansen of Tipton, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his father, Walter in 1948; his wife, Ginette; and stepfather, Norman Hansen. A memorial has been established in memory of Fred.
