Gale Pfarr Maurer, son of Herbert Forest and Bertha Pfarr Maurer, was born on April 8, 1914, in Tipton, Iowa. He was a graduate of Tipton High School and Tipton Junior College. Gale farmed until retiring in 1969. On September 30, 1938, Gale was united in marriage to Sarah Helen McAfee in Kohoka, Missouri. He was a member of United Church of Christ, Tipton, Pony of America Club, Cedar County Saddle Club and Cedar County Farm Bureau and a past 4-H Leader. Gale is survived by his daughter, Karen King and husband, Darold of Tipton, Iowa; grandsons, Brian King and wife, Jenny of Tipton, Iowa and Jeff King and wife, Teresa of Tipton, Iowa; 8 great-grandchildren; and sisters, Maureen Salisbury of Torrence, California, Margery Fraseur of Spencer, Iowa and Shirley Maurer of Tipton, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents, Herbert and Bertha Maurer; his wife, Helen Maurer on February 19, 2003; a brother, Stanlely Maurer; and a sister, Lucille Harr. A memorial has been established for the Mechanicsville Ambulance Service in honor of Gale.
