George "Bob" Batzkiel, aka, The Polish Prince, passed away Sunday, March 1, 2015 in the University of Iowa Hospitals & clinics with his family by his side. Funeral services will be Thursday, March 5th at 10:30 am, Fry Funeral Home, Tipton. Burial with full military rites will follow in the Tipton Masonic Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 4:00 to 7:00 at Fry's. A memorial fund has been established in his memory. Online condolences may be shared at www.fryfuneralhome.com. Bob was born on November 21, 1938 in Moline and was the son of Chester and Betty Crawford Batzkiel. On October 24, 1959 Bob was united in marriage to Mary Jo DeMeyer in East Moline. Bob worked as a Moline Fireman from 1966 through 1976 and moved to Lowden where he and Mary made their home. Bob worked as a fisherman, metal worker at John Deere and ended his career at HWH when he retired in 1999 as the shop foreman. Bob is survived by his wife, Mary Jo, 4 daughters; Mary Wynkoop of Clarence, Iowa, Cheryl (Bill) Peirce of Wilton, Judy (Ward) Shontz of Moscow, Cassie Mathias of Muscatine; two sons, Bob, Jr. (Sue) Batzkiel of Lowden and Bill (Cindy) Batzkiel of West Branch; 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren; Sister, Robin Nordinger of Hollywood, Florida and 2 brothers, John Batzkiel and Charlie Batzkiel of Atkinson, Illinois. He was preceded in death by his parents, Granddaughter, Jennie and great grandson, Jaden.
