Ginger Anne Ford

Ginger Anne Ford, 74, of Tipton, Iowa, passed away Sunday, September 6, 2026, at UnityPoint Health–St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids, surrounded by her family.

Ginger was born March 14, 1952, in Cedar Rapids, the daughter of Robert E. and Darlene B. (Rife) Leaf. She earned her GED in 1973 and worked in many retail stores and a variety of factories ending her career as a steel bundler for North Star Steel.

Ginger was feisty—and anyone who knew her knew it. She was spirited and strong-willed. Beneath that toughness was a woman who cared deeply for the people and causes that mattered to her. Ginger lived life on her own terms, leaving her family with countless memories and more than a few stories that could only belong to her.

Ginger is survived by her son, Christopher Barnes of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Stacey (Randy) Hennings of Bennett; three grandchildren, Tyler, Trevor, and Tara Hennings; and brothers, Robert (Colleen) Leaf of Hazelton and Wayne Leaf of Cedar Rapids.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her sister, Gwen.

Visitation for Ginger will be held from 1:00 – 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, September 22, 2026 at Fry Funeral Home in Tipton. A private family graveside service and burial will follow at Red Oak Presbyterian Church Cemetery, with Pastor Andy Watkins officiating. Memorials may be directed to Friends of the Animals.
